Expert advice on HoliSoils results

HoliSoils project partners benefitted from the knowledge and interest of external experts in an online meeting of the project’s Scientific Advisory Board (SAB).

Consortium partners presented their latest results to the SAB who responded with questions and insights which will contribute valuably to the development of the work going forward as the project enters its final year.

The session, which took place on 4 December 2024, was divided into two parts. The fist looked at Analyses of soil biodiversity and how biodiversity data can inform models. Presentations included:

  1. Responses on soil microbiota on different management and disturbances, by Tijana Martinovic (IMIC)
  2. Soil microbial diversity and biomass considered in soil model by Elisa Bruni (CRNS)

The second part of the meeting moved to discuss the Effects of management and disturbances on forest soils. Presentations included:

  • Scientific basis of the good practice guidance on climate wise forest management practices by Aleksi Lehtonen (Luke)
  • Vulnerability and resilience to canopy disturbances of different intensities of soil biodiversity, soil functioning and GHG dynamics by Jorge Curiel Yuste (BC3)

The HoliSoils SAB is formed of six members:

  • Laurent Augusto, National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRAE), France
  • Nicklas Forsell, International Institute for Applied System Analysis, IIASA, Austria
  • Mari Pihlatie, University of Helsinki, Finland
  • Marion Schrumpf, Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry, Germany
  • Kathe Todd-Brown, University of Florida, USA
  • Franziska Tanneberger, Greifswald Mire Centre, Germany
  • Wim van der Putten, Netherlands Institute of Ecology, Netherlands

HoliSoils is grateful to its SAB experts for their valuable time and interest in supporting us to develop the project’s research and excited to soon be sharing our results with the world!

Keep up to date with all HoliSoils results!
