HoliSoils session at INTECOL Wetlands 2025 conference

The EU-funded HoliSoils project will organise the session ‘Drivers and processes of soil CO₂, CH₄, and N₂O emissions in forested peatlands’ at the INTECOL Wetlands 2025 conference, to be held from 29 June to 2 July in Tartu, Estonia. This international event brings together wetland experts to address key issues such as biogeochemistry, restoration, ecology and monitoring of wetland ecosystems. In total, the congress will feature nine parallel sessions, as well as specific workshops and symposia, such as one hosted by HoliSoils.
The HoliSoils-led session, coordinated by researchers from the Natural Resources Institute of Finland (LUKE), will focus on the mechanisms regulating greenhouse gas emissions (CO₂, CH₄ and N₂O) in forested peatlands. It will address empirical and modelling studies analysing the effects of environmental factors, disturbances and sustainable land management on these key ecosystems for climate change mitigation.
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit their abstracts until 15 March 2025. Presentations can be in oral or poster format, and notifications of acceptance will be sent by 15 April 2025.
